Human Development Society (HDS) is a non-profit secular non-governmental development organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act (XXI) 1860. Donations to HDS are eligible for tax relief under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

A Study on Victim Compensation Schemes for Victims of Human Trafficking

Sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), this exploratory research seeks to study the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of victim compensation schemes that are meant for rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking. It also intends to suggest measures for strengthening effectiveness and efficiency of the victim compensation schemes, and achieving sustainability of the benefits of compensation received by the rescued victims.

A Study of Child Rape Victims of Delhi

Sponsored by the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR), this exploratory research seeks to map the needs and priorities of child rape victims with a view to recommend measures for their social reintegration and rehabilitation. The Commission intends to design interventions keeping in view the recommendations of the study.

Impact of economic violence on women

HDS is conducting a study titled “Deciphering economic violence: A study of its dynamics and impact on women” with the support of the National Commission for Women (NCW). It covers six districts of the State of Haryana. The key objectives of the study are to understand the dynamics of economic relationship that women have with their family members, nature of economic violence against women and the relationship of economic violence with physical and sexual violence.

Partnership with IOCL for CSR Interventions

HDS entered into a partnership with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), R & D Centre, Faridabad, Haryana in April 2012 for conducting various activities under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plans. The partnership will continue till 2019. We have so far completed the following evaluation and baseline studies for IOCL:

  • Baseline Survey in 11 Panchayats of Faridabad block covering education, health, water and sanitation
  • Impact evaluation of CSR Programmes of the years 2007-2012
  • Baseline study for three CSR projects of three non-governmental organisations
  • Baseline studies in Senior Secondary School of village Jasana, Faridabad
  • Baseline study of Dulhepur village
  • Baseline study for six CSR projects of five non-governmental organisations
